The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, are situated on the south bank of the River Thames near Richmond, about 10 km south-west of London.

To get to Kew Gardens you may travel by underground, train or bus.


Travelling by London Underground ("The Tube")

The tube station closest to Kew Gardens is Kew Gardens station. It is in travelcard zone 3.
From central London take the District Line train with destination "Richmond".

Travelling by Train

The London Overground service between North Woolwich and Richmond stops at Kew Gardens. Frequency: Monday to Saturday, every 20 minutes.
The South West Trains service between London Waterloo and Brentford stops at Kew Bridge (travelcard zone 3). Frequency: Mon - Sat every 15 minutes. Sundays: hourly

Travelling by bus

Several buses come directly to the Gardens or stop at either of the two nearby railway stations, Kew Bridge and Kew Gardens.
No. 65: between Ealing Broadway Station and Kingston.
No. 237: between Hounslow and Shepherds Bush Green.
No. 267: between Hampton Court and Hammersmith.
No. 391: between Richmond and Fulham Broadway.
Generally bus frequency from Monday to Saturday is around 10 - 15 minutes.

For the Museum No. 1 the closest entrace is the Shaft Yard Gate, located on Kew Road, a bit to the north of Victoria Gate. The Shaft Yard Gate will be open until 9:30 am. If you arrive later than 9:30 am, please enter through Victoria Gate and at the ticket counter mention you are going to the workshop.

Museum No. 1 is in front of the Palm House (a big glasshouse), across the lake.
